TWO WHEEL COMBO AND TWICE THE FUN IN SOUTH WEST FRANCE !!
What's in a name I wonder ? Certainly here at 'French Cycling Adventures' we often reflect on the description of our cycling holidays and tours in the Gers and it's surrounding departments. Should we correctly refer to these as 'Bicycle Tours' or 'Bicycle Breaks', 'Bicycle Travel' or perhaps 'Bicycle Holidays' ?? Other blog writers and authors have looked in depth at the correct definition of trips, tours and holidays in and around the world, and it appears, that most cannot agree on the correct term to describe riding a bicycle from one point to another for a period of time, either supported, guided or assisted in some way or another.
SO, our latest tour, break and travelling holiday here in the MIDI PYRENEES is all of these descriptions, and more ! To begin with, we can begin by introducing our very latest cycling experience, which will mean a 2 day carbon bike ride fest into the very foothills of the Pyrenees in South West France. Then, a complete switch of biking style, from on road to off-road, with a one centre stay in the Pyrenees itself, and the use of a fully kitted out mountain bike for 4 days. In additon, mountain bike guides are available to support you fully each day, and you are likely to discover all sorts of trails and tracks in the Pyrenees. There are switchbacks, rocky and rooty routes, fast downhill descents and fitness building hills for you to try. Personal coaching in the skill- set needed for the Pyrenees is also available. What a combo !! The introductory ride through the Gers itself, offers an insight into the rural and peaceful backwaters of this department, with great vistas and interesting medieval bastide villages. This area generally is a well kept hidden secret and altogether a little gem. Once you are in the Pyrenees, you can be certain of full support for your off-road biking experience, with a professional guide and coach to assist you and discuss each days schedule before you set out. Additional coaching is also available. At the close of the week, an evening out as a group in a nearby town/pyrenean village will nicely conclude your cycling combo in South West France.
